Pulp: The mixture of fibre, water, bleaches and fillers from which paper is made.
When coral bleaches, seaweed can grow out of control, stifling reef recovery.
It fades the pictures, bleaches out the curtains, and falls unsparingly on driftwood and part-painted furniture as advertised in Coast magazine.
Add to this the usual routine of frazzling it with hairdryers, heated tongs and rollers, applying harsh chemical styling treatments, bleaches and colourants etc – what do you end up with?
The perborate bleaches are not used commercially but are available for use by the consumers. Their bleaching action is similar to that of hydrogen peroxide.
