Luo Xuejuan Announced Retirement Date of Birth :Jan. 26,1984

 Event: Swimming

 Weight: 62 kg

 Achievement: 100 m title at the Athens Olympics in 2004

   Luo Xuejuan, the only Chinese swimming champion at the Athens Olympic Games, announced retirement due to illness on Jan. 30, 2007.

She said she had spent seven years in the national swimming team, which she always regarded as her home. She expressed her desire to make contributions to the Beijing Olympic Games.

     Luo won the women's 50 m and 100 m breaststroke(蛙泳)events at both 2001 and 2003 world championships(世界錦標賽). She captured the 100 m title at the Athens Olympics in 2004, which was China's first Olympic swimming gold in eight years.

   Luo will further her study in Beijing University after retirement.
