In a study, US teenagers who are afraid to talk to the opposite sex were asked to approach a boy or a girl online first before talking to them in person. “Once they felt like they were doing okay online, then they could continue the conversation face to face in a more comfortable state,” a researcher said. “The anxiety was lessened by using technology.”
