二戰期間，盟*苦於德國的祕密系統”英格瑪“無法破譯，*召集了一批民間數學家、邏輯學家進行祕密破解工作，圖靈（本尼迪克特·康伯巴奇 Benedict Cumberbatch 飾）就是其中之一。計劃剛開始圖靈遭到了以休（馬修·古迪 Matthew Goode）為首的組員和領導的排斥，幸好*情處部長孟席斯（馬克·斯特朗 Mark strong 飾）幫助他立項研究破譯密碼的機器，而圖靈則變成了負責人，招收了新的成員瓊（凱拉·奈特莉 Keira Knightley）開始了艱難的工作。瓊很快就迷上了圖靈，由於她的幫助所有組員空前的團結，並於兩年後成功破解德*的密碼。圖靈一度與瓊訂婚，但實際上他隱瞞了一個祕密，因為這個祕密他也遭受了非人的待遇……
