Spasmodic winking caused by the involuntary contraction of an eyelid muscle.
They are caused by prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that makes the smooth muscle in the uterus contract. These involuntary contractions can be either dull or sharp and intense.
Seizures can vary from the briefest lapses of attention or muscle jerks, to severe and prolonged convulsions (i.e. violent and involuntary contractions, or a series of contractions, of the muscles).
