Different tradition has different way of practicing meditation. in Buddhism 's4tradition it involves putting the body in a special position such as the seated cross-legged lotus position.
Japhy was sitting in the full lotus position, it's called, with both ankles over both thighs.
That does not mean sitting in the lotus position and chanting but may mean going for a walk.
