Because old-fashioned strikes no longer create havoc, local bosses have turned to guerrilla tactics, such as blockades of oil depots or go-slow lorry convoys on motorways.
The Taliban are expected to use classic guerrilla tactics of fleeing into the mountains. From there they can then mount hit-and-run raids on an apparently victorious Pakistani army.
