Stainless steels-Method of electrochemical test for crevice corrosion
The crevice corrosion behavior of X70 steel was studied in the Ku'erle simulated solution of various HCO3- concentrations by using a wedge-shaped crevice model.
It was concluded that the corrosion of anti-rust aluminum plate was the result of crevice corrosion.
Fig. 8 shows the relationship between crevice corrosion rate and nitrogen content for a low Mn steel, SUS316L, with diverse nitrogen content after forming crevices.
This process was coincident with classic theory of crevice corrosion of metal.
Pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion in catalyst deposit zone and corrosion deposit zone can also induce stress corrosion cracking.
